MAN OF PEACE
He was a man of Peace,
He turned the other cheek,
But not without speaking up for what he believed,
He took it to the streets,
And the city bus seats,
And many time he was arrested,
He spent the night in jail,
In Birmingham,
Where he wrote a letter to his bishops,
He said you're right I am an extremist,
For love and peace,
And of that fact I'm very proud of,
He was a pacifist,
He never raised his fist,
But he raised consciousness of injustice,
He campaigned for the poor,
Opposed the Vietnam War,
And knocked very firmly on Jim Crow's locked doors,
He had a dream,
A vision of the future in which everyone was free,
And people were judged by their character,
Not the color of their skin,
May it one day come true,
For me and you,
And everybody to be free and equal in this land,
He was a man of peace,
He turned the other cheek,
But not without speaking up for what he believed,
Then they took his life,
Like so many who climbed so high,Up the mountain side,
To expose injustice
But that will not stop us,
No we will not close our eyes,
No we won't give up the fight till there is justice.
